That Love/Hate Feel That Comes With the Off Season and Josh Hamilton.

Another year, another off season. After this World Series ends we'll be facing a very long stretch without baseball! Absurd right? It feels like a part of your soul just left when the season is completely over with, not a good feeling. But theres always one thing to look forward to, yes thats right, off season trades and signings.

Personally as a Yankee fan i'm very excited to see if they will dump all their money just to sign all of the big free agents and turn somewhat of a team into some kind of AL All-Star powerhouse. To be quite honest i just hope that they get one good pitcher for the rotation, get a bat to sit in front or behind A-Rod and have the young pitchers grow up.

Everyone wants to grow up with a team and grow up with players that you can remember as your own. You know, guys like like David Wright, John Lester and, Evan Longoria. In the not too distant future we'll be able to tell our children's children that we watched these boys turn into men and they played the game with integrity and heart.

(Lester has already accomplished so much already but more importantly he battled through cancer, I have so much respect for this kid)

We were able to watch Josh Hamilton turn his career around by turning his life around. We can say we watched him hit, no, demolished 28 innocent baseballs that should be label as "Hamiltonian" as opposed to "Ruthian" at the Home-Run Derby in Yankee Stadium in one round and didn't win. Will anyone care 20 years from now that Justin Morneau won the derby? No. I almost forgot myself already. Although he could not get one out of the Stadium, his display of power was awe inspiring. It was as if George Herman Ruth himself entered his body and they became The Great Hambino as others have called him. You just can't help but love him. I know I can't.

But i sidetracked myself. Baseball in whole is becoming
a lot more competitive, and it seems to be happening every year. For big market teams that means trouble. Next year should be an exciting year as some questions will come about. Here my list of what will be addressed..

  • --Can the Rays capture the AL East crown again?
  • --Will the Blue Jays finally make a run to the post season?
  • --Can the Tigers turn into the powerhouse some people thought they would be?
  • --Can the Red Sox reclaim the World Series crown?
  • --Will the Mets fail to make the playoffs for the third straight year?
  • --Will the Royals make any noise in the AL Central? (i have a feeling they will)
  • --Can the Indians bounce back?
  • --What will happen in Anaheim after being eliminated in the ALDS?
  • --Will the Padres come back into the swing of things?
  • --Will the Diamondbacks players have breakout seasons?
  • --Will the Yankees dump the bank?

There are many more questions that will arise this off season as we all know, or do we?

Nothing major could happen in the off season and we could all just be sitting at home for six months waiting for baseball to start again. I am however looking forward to that MLB Network deal, finally i can get my get my baseball fix without being interrupted by football. (football is great and all but when its October i don't even want to think about football)
