From Hollywood to Broadway, Manny could be Bronx bound.
Recent rumblings around the rumor mill have stated that the Yankees would be looking at acquiring Manny Ramirez via FA. As a fan of the Yankees I won't complain as long as he doesn't end up hurting them. In an earlier post I had said that "if the Yankees want a bat, get Tex, and dump him at first." but I've changed my mind. Ramirez is one of the best hitters and it would be foolish not to at least look at him.
At first it would be difficult to believe that Manny sports the pinstripes. After all, these are the same pinstripes that he tortured throughout his career. He's always been on the opposite side creating problems and we've hated him for it. I think every fan would like to watch the curtain draw on the NY-Girardi-Manny show. The Man-Ram is a beast that would be hard to tame. But most likely won't be.
Manny would create a lot of buzz in NY and would help A-Rod as well. There would be a lot of pressure taken off A-Rod with Manny in the line-up and would give them an excellent, if not the best, 3-4 punch in the majors.

The only issue for me is how crowded the outfield will be. With Nady/Damon/Matsui/Melky/Gardner if you add Manny thats 6 outfielders not counting Abreu. Even though I would prefer Matt Holliday, I don't see the Yankees seriously going after him.
Here's what the outfield could look like in 09.
CF-Gardner
RF-Nady
DH-Damon/Manny
LF- Damon/Manny
RF-Nady
DH-Damon/Manny
LF- Damon/Manny
But I don't make those decisions.

(open arms like this)
I would welcome Manny with open arms. As long as he helps the Yanks get to the post-season no right minded fan will complain. We shouldn't care what team he was on or how he acts just as long as he wants to win. At the end of the day, you don't root for the player you root for the team.
Oh man, just thinking about having Manny come up to bat against the Red Sox gives me chills. If you thought the Fenway Faithful were hard on Damon, imagine Manny.
Personally I want Manny to come and help us win a championship, but It would be a good idea to get a starting pitcher FIRST.
Look i know there's an empty spot at first and they need to upgrade. If they signed Manny they could always pick up Doug Mientkiewicz. He wasn't bad with the Yankees. Even though he only played 72 games, he plays a clean first base.
